What is the best restaurant in Galway? 2016

Yesterday Wacafe’s owner, Yoshimi, took me to to Sligo for the "Irish Restaurants Award 2016".

Sligo is known as Yeats’s home town. He said “Sligo has always been my home".

Wacafe was nominated as a "Best Cafe" in Galway.

"Kai Cafe & Restaurant” which was previously elected "Best Restaurant" in Ireland, won the prize "Best Customer Service" in Galway.

Kai is famous for Sunday brunch. There is always a queue.

There were many foods from Sligo in the hall.

He is Dimitar Dosev from Bulgaria.
He opened a bakery in Sligo in 2015.
He traveled around the world to learn how to make delicious bread.

These are also from Sligo.
They contain no sugar, are high in fibre and protein, gluten free and natural.
It’s really good for me.
I don’t want to eat junk food even if I feel really hungry. And there are very delicious.

These oysters are from Sligo as well.
They are not big but creamy and delicious.
I was surprised that Irish people eat oysters with Tabasco. In Japan I have never seen before. wow!
However Japanese people eat Italian food with Tabasco, but Italian don't!
Only in Japan can you find tabasco in Italian restaurants!

We can drink as many free beer, wine and cocktails as you want.

Which restaurant won in Galway in 2016?

This is Loam.

The restaurant also won as "Best Chef" in Galway as well.
I have never been there. So somehow I will eat there once while I live in Galway.

Check it out!

【Video】How fast Turkish people to eat sunflower seeds!!

I was in Bulgaria 3 years ago.
I met Turkish people on a street.
And we made friends.
They are very kind and funny and crazy!!
First of all, they can eat Sunflowers seed amazingly FAST.
Look!!

They taught me how to play Bag gammon.

We lost money but enjoyed Dog race in Galway!

I run with my friend Andy.
We always try to run another way, through a different part of the city.
In the last time we found Dog race stadium in Galway.
Look!
have you seen how fast dogs are.
So we promised to come back here again.

Today is the day

We asked our apartment friends to go to see dog race.
They said “Yeah! it must be fun!”
But sadly they didn’t come.
Even Andy had to work.

So only Alvaro and me came to see it.
It takes about 20 min by foot from city centre.

Generally Adult has to pay 10€ for entry.
But receptionist asked us “Are you students?"
We answered “Fuck YES”
Then she allow us to come in only 5€ per each.
I love that kind of Irish mind.
Thank you very much.

We analysed a day of birth, last race ranking, time, and class of dogs.
Then bet!

Dogs were too fast to take a picture.
They are looks like ghost or something like that.
They run about 60km/hour.
I wan a few times. However we lose many times.
So we decided to come back in the middle of races.

I lost about 15€ in total.
However it was really fun experience for us.
We are really excited and could be millionaires. lol.
It’s worth for us!

The rest of our apartments friends who didn’t come with us asked me to come to see Dog race.
But I don’t go never again.
Because I feed enough money for the dogs.

【VIDEO】The guy from U.S. eats Japanese soul food "UMEBOSHI"

Umeboshi is Japanese soul food. Umeboshi is made of plum, salt, red shiso leaves, something liquor.

Actually Umeboshi is very sour! I don’t like much. But many Japanese like it.

In 2013, I lived at hostel in Sofia the capital of Bulgaria.

We played every day like that. I miss my Bulgarian days.

The movie has viewed already 2,600 times!

Traveling around Ireland! Day 0

Around Ireland
×
We don't know each other
×
7 Japanese
×
 A hired car
×
Sleeping in the Car
×
8 days

What is "Traveling around Ireland"?

I planned it with a Japanese girl who I met at a bar on NewYear's eve.
Her nickname is Chaby.
Our plan was to rent a car, and collect a people who will join us from the Internet.
If we get more people, it will be more fun and cheaper.
We started on the 15th Jan 2016 from Dublin, and we drove around Ireland in 8 days, and came back.

Chaby and me

Where are we going?

We went to Cork, in the south part of Ireland, Galway in the west, and Belfast in the north.

We also planed to visit the "Ring of Kerry", the "Cliffs of Moher" and the "Giants Causeway"

Actually I had planed this kind of travel, but when I came to Ireland the wether was so bad. It rained a lot, it was cold, and the days were very short…

However I met Chaby, and she told me that " I will go with you!"

So we planed it together.

What is the initial plan?

At first we would rent a car for 4 people; Chaby, myself, and two more. However, when we put the travel information on the Internet, 3 people contacted us right away to join!

We ventured to rent a car for 7 people. Because we didn't want to reject any person who wanted to join us!
And we kept looking for one more person.

You can get on and off anywhere. We can change our plan depending on your desire.

It would cost about 450€ to rent a car.
We divide it by the number of passenger.

You need to pay for your hotel charges and food expenses.

How to collect friends?

We made a video only in Japanese sorry! We posted the trip information on Facebook and another internet site.
We made an English notification as well. However the people who wanted to come were all Japanese.

We are planning to travel around Ireland. We are gonna leave Dublin on the 15th, and then will come back to Dublin on the 22nd.

Now we are 5 people. And we are looking for two more people to join us. We've already rend a car which has seven seats.

We are going to some nice places such as Cork, Galway, Belfast, and Iveragh Peninsula, which is the place where we can see many stars very clearly.

And of course we will visit the Giant's Causeway a World Heritage site.

Schedule (we can change, of course)

1st day: Kildare, Wicklow, Kilkenny and Cork (we will probably spend a night in Cork.)

2nd Day: Blow head, Killarney, and the Ring of Kerry Ring, the best place to watch the starry sky (we will spend two nights there)

4th Day: Limerick, Adare (the cutest village in Ireland), and Galway.

6th Day: Giants cause way

Japanese restaurant "WA CAFE" is recommended by Japanese.

「WA CAFE」is one of the three Japanese restaurant in Galway
I visited the restaurant recently.
And I recommend you here.

A owner is Japanese woman named Yoshimi.
She is a pioneer of bringing Japanese food to Galway.
Many people ate Sushi in Yoshimi's restaurant at first time.

They serve traditional Sushi like tuna and mackerel.
They make European style sushi California roll, Chicken Teriyaki.
Are you vegetarian?
No problem you can get Vegetarian roll as well.

WA CAFE is really delicious but not only that.
They serve organic local products as possible.

Those 3 peace of Sushi are also local food from Galway.
I like especially this prawn.
It is bigger than Japanese. I love it.

You can also enjoy another Japanese food besides Sushi.
Chicken Teriyaki is amazing.
Its hard to find that kind of delicious chicken in Japan.
Id like to know the recipe.

If you are interested in Japanese food.
Please welcome to WA CAFE

WA CAFE is introduced by Japanese most famous guide book
called “Chikyu-no-arukikata” meaning how to walk the earth.

The restaurant is also nominated for “Irish restaurant award 2016"

There is a lovely cozy place.
So if you have plan to go with over 10 people,
I think you need reservation.

Yoshimi sets a booth at Galway Saturday market too.
So you can enjoy Sushi there as well!
